Quotezone Car Insurance Review

About the Website - Quotezone are an independent company not associated to an insurance broker or insurance company. They provide a quote comparison system similar to the major aggregators.

Our Review Methodology
We asked a large team of people to visit the Quotezone website and report back to us with a questionaire about how easy the car insurance website was to use and whether the website offered all the car insurance services and covers they required as potential customers.

Our Car Insurance review team consisted of a wide cross section of the UK population, various car makes and types, occupations, driving histories and ages; the only common factor was that none of the team had bought car insurance online before we started the review process.

The object of the car insurance review was to assess the ease of use of the Quotezone site and availability of online information to aid purchasing cover. We specifically asked the team to look at the range of cover options, functionality and services offered by the site; and not just to compare car insurance quotes prices and premiums.

Q. Do the quotes offered have different levels of cover?

Q. How did you find the navigation? Was it easy to move around?

Getting the best quote from specialists for your Vintage Car should now be a whole lot simpler thanks to a new website http://www.vintagecarinsurance.co.uk
The website compares vintage car insurance quotes from all the major suppliers and independent specialist insurance brokers and allows you to purchase cover instantly online no matter how old your vehicle, Vintage car insurance is able to cover all makes and all models of vintage car.

Dave Barton, Vintage Car Insurance divisional Director at the company said,
"In the past it has not been easy for owners of vintage cars to get the best deal for their cherished vehicles, and in some cases not even the best or adequate cover. This was due in part to the fact that many owners bought their vintage car insurance cover directly through the club or association to which they belonged."

"People were naturally discouraged from shopping around for insurance deals for specialist, rare or expensive motors. Insurance brokers at large, did not have
access to these specialist schemes and were not able to offer their vintage car owning customers the best cover."

"Our online system is simple to use and you can obtain a quote for your vintage car in under a minute. You simply have to enter your vehicles details once and a few facts about how you use the vintage car and our system passes the data to a central electronic exchange to retrieve the very best rates and covers, for every make and model of vintage car on the UK market."

"Large online discounts are available and incorporated in to the quotes returned. There are additional savings to be had if you are a member of a recognised vintage car club or have improved home security. "

“Furhermore we are able to cover every driver in the UK no matter what their previous driving history may be including, Young Drivers,Female Drivers, Drivers with 2 or more previous Accidents / Claims, Drivers with 2 or more driving convictions, Drivers with any criminal conviction, any driver with disability or medical condition, any person who has had insurance refused / cancelled, and Drivers over 75 years old."

"We all so cover Vintage cars in all areas of the united Kingdom including the Channel Islands & Isle of Man."

"All Non standard occupations are also covered under our vintage car insurance scheme i.e. Footballer, Actor, Publican etc "

"We estimate our customers will save in excess of twenty five percent of their current annual vintage car insurance premiums!" He added.

Car Insurance - It's all a game - Innit?

Cheap flight expert Stelios the Greek, must be a secret gaming geek!

His financial services company Easymoney has commissioned a Car Insurance 'platform' game, presumably in a bid to get his brand awareness raised amongst those members of society that like computer games and running over great big fat Bulldogs in Cars....Ooooh yes!

 car insurance hunter game

The game has ten levels (yes I played it!)each one dedicated to splattering into the gutter one of the major players in the UK car insurance market.
It must be fairly old as you get a chance to run over a Lloyds black horse as well as that annoying rat from Esure......No Dear not Michael Winner!
He's rather rude about the freshness of Tesco's veg as well!

There's certainly no mention of the Meerkat, Opera Singer,Tiger or Television so I guess this game never went viral.

Maybe its time to commission Insurance Hunter2 - The curse of the aggregator!

If you fancy playing the game click here.

If you are a real car insurance hunter looking to Compare Car Insurance don't waste your time online playing silly games!

Motor Insurance premium set to soar in 2010 says Deloitte:

By Car Insurance Blogger Kris Oldland

A recent report from global financial consulting giant Deloitte points to an uncertain year ahead for the Motor Insurance industry.

Worryingly the report indicates that the industry as a whole could make underwriting losses of up to GBP1bn in 2009 if not for the support of prior year releases.
Deloitte also suggest that for the motor insurance industry, worth some GBP12bn, these losses are likely to continue into 2010.
Estimates suggest that car insurers will have to raise their premiums by a minimum of 5% to replace the lost income resulting from lower investment returns.

Insurance associate partner at Deloitte, James Rakow, commented that: "Results at a headline level for UK motor insurers have shown this market cruising along at close to underwriting breakeven point from 2001 to 2007."

Looking at the latest annual results available (2008), the headline net operating ratio is reported at 105%. In real terms this translates to Motor Insurers making an underwriting loss of GBP5 for every GBP100 of premium. However there is rising concern that unlike in 2008 where the investment market conditions were good enough for insurers to recoup this underwriting loss and make a small insurance profit, the additional revenue streams simply are not able to compensate this time around.

Mr. Rakow also voiced his concerns regarding this area stating that: "Looking beneath the likely headline result for 2009, the picture is even worse for motor insurers.
Indications are that the current year trading is far from being profitable at a market level and this is likely to remain the case in 2010. For the last few years prior year reserve releases have been at exceptionally high levels. I do not expect to see anything other than modest levels of reserve releases in 2009."

Figures from Deloitte's Motor Premium index are showing that the current rise in motor insurance premiums are increasing at the fastest rate seen since the index began back in 2003.
Premiums for comprehensive cover have soared in particular showing a rise of 11% for the year (to September 2009) and with a rise of 4% in the third quarter of the year also it appears that there is little to indicate that this trend will slow down at any time soon.

Speaking with particular regard to these premium increases, Mr. Rakow said: "One piece of positive news for motor insurers is that there is now strong evidence in the market that motor premiums are on the increase.
This is not such good news for consumers who may find it increasingly difficult to compare car insurance and to shop around for a cheaper premium at renewal.
With lower investment returns and the prospect of only modest support from prior year reserve releases insurers have had to look to premium increases to improve their results."

As Mr. Rakow suggests there is certainly the hint of a silver lining in motor premiums being on the increase for Motor Insurers, however these increases will have to be particularly fierce for many to make underwriting motor insurance a profitable sector again. However, for the consumer, who will almost unilaterally will face a steep increase in the cost of insuring their vehicles, this will be of little comfort.

Also we are now seeing the motor insurance market now becoming more a more integrated with a bloated aggregator model. Ironically the aggregator market has now developed to become a daunting and confusing landscape of its own after setting out to simplify the market for us humble consumers just a few years ago.

The confusion of meerkat's, tenors and tigers now just seems to add another layer of choice into the process. Add to this the current worries about dual pricing where we are faced with having to leave our current insurer to guarantee a better deal and finding decent value motor insurance in 2010 seems like a lot of hard work.

Michael Schumacher Will Need Mercedes Insurance

The doyen of the teutonic F1 scene, Michael Schumacher, and former multi World Drivers Champion has announced his F1 driving comeback at the age of 41.

 schumacher mercedes insurance

Schumacher has today announced his intention to drive in next years 2010 F1 season for the Mercedes Brawn Team, in the position that was left vacant by the departure of current F1 World Champion Jensen Button to rivals Mclaren Mercedes.

The drive is worth an estimated £6 million for the season, although already sceptics are lining up to doubt whether he will go the whole way.....

Schumacher speaking on Sky News, said that he has been in training all summer and autumn to recover from the neck injury that kept him from replacing Massa in the Ferrari team back in June, and that he felt 100 per cent capable of the drive.
He is also looking forward to competing against some of the younger drivers like Massa and Hamilton for the first time.

In reality it will be difficult for Schumacher to compete against the likes of Hamilton and Button at Mclaren, whose cars were getting better with every race towards the end of last season.

There is though the 'Button' element that gave Brawn such a flying start last season when every one in the Motor sports world had written off their chances before the start of the season.
With Ross Brawn at the helm and Schumacher at the wheel anything can happen....

Then there is also the question about engines. surely Mercedes will favour their own team over McClaren?

It's going to be a very interesting 2010 F1 season......

In the meantime Michael scumacher is going to need Mercedes Insurance for all those lovely Courtesy cars and gifts that the Mercedes-Benz people are going to shower him with..

Well Michael, you need to look no further than Car-Insurance.tv to get the best car insurance quote for all Mercedes models at the Mercedes Car Insurance comparison site.

How to avoid Accident and Car Insurance Claims This Winter

As winter approaches and the days get short it is sensible to think about additional driving requirements at this time of year, particularly if you live or drive in rural areas; taking just a few precautions can avoid accidents and car insurance claims and the possibility of being off the road at Christmas.

Make sure that you are carrying with you the following items, and if you are unlucky enough to be involved in accident miles from home, these little things might just save your life:

1. Additional Clothing: Fleeces, Hats, Gloves and Coats
2. Blankets in the car: If you are stuck after an accident in a blizzard, once your engine cools the car repidly turns into a fridge.
3. De-Icers and Scrapers
4. Something to drink: If you are stuck for a long time it would be useful to carry liquids to avoid dehydration, preferably hot in a flask.
5. A fully charged Mobile Phone
6. Car Breakdown Insurance and the number to call!
7. A Map: Even if you have Sat-Nav in your car, a map will help you fing the nearest property or town if you are stuck.
8. A high visibility vest of something to attract attention.
9. Money: make sure you do not travel without cash and a credit card

Following this accident and emergency for the winter checklist, will at the very least make your accident or breakdown less distressful.

You can also avoid accidents and disasters leading to car insurance claims if you ensure that your vehicle is fit for the trip in Winter conditions. Follow this checklist and avoid unnecessary and expensive claims.

1. Ensure your engine oil level is correct and top up if necessary.
2. Check the fluids paying particular attention to the vcar's radiator, brake fluids, engine coolants and screen wash.
3. Check your tyres! Ensure that they are of the minimum legal tread and are inflated to the manufacturers recommended pressures. You can usually find the correct pressures for your tyres on a plate on the edge of the drivers door!
4. Check your lights! You will need to ensure that all your lights are working correctly. Be aware that it is an offence to drive with insufficient lighting at certain hours of the day and if you are unfortunate to have an accident , this could invalidate your car insurance claim. Check Headlights, Sidelights, Rear Lights and Brake lights to see that they are all working.
If you are on your own, if you park the car close to a reflective surface you will not need assistance to see that they are working.
5. Check your Visibility! Ensure your windows are clean inside and out. If you have problems with heating and air blowers, get them fixed before the start of the very cold period

Drive safely this winter - It's deadly out there!

RBS Churchil Insurance - Is the nodding dog facing the guillotine?

There's been a lot of noise in the UK press recently about the split up of the profitable insurance arm of RBS Bank, partly because the Government wants some of it's money back, but more importantly because the organisation has been deemed to be in breach of European monopoly regulations regarding Insurance and needs to be broken up.

Out of the ashes of the Scottish Bank will come the predators who probably can't wait to get their grubby hands on the likes of Churchill. The Insurance News press are already speculating as to who the interested parties are.

Whoever buys Churchill is guaranteed profitable business as years of marketing expertise has engrained the lovable bulldog into the British psyche.
Why I even heard Chris Moyles of Radio 1 doing five minutes of oooh Yeeees impressions this morning! now that is invaluable advertising!
The dog is a National treasure !

Before an earthquake there are seismic rattles so perhaps what landed in our inbox today is an indication of things to come. RBS's Privilege Car Insurance has closed it's online affiliate scheme and hasn't advertised on TV for ages. We saw similar things happen to the Norwich Union brand earlier this year.

It appears the shadows are now gathering over the old bulldog's future.........

RE: RBS Insurance - System Outage
Dear Affiliate,

RBS Insurance would like to give you advanced notice that there will be some outage across all RBS Insurance websites - Direct Line, Churchill, Green Flag, Devitt and Privilege starting at 00.30hrs on Sunday 22nd November.
The planned outage will allow for scheduled enhancements to be implemented across all websites. Their aim is to have all sites back live to the public by 9.40am. These timings are subject to any unexpected issues that may occur during the release.
RBS Insurance would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you and would like to take this opportunity to thank all affiliates for their continued hard work and support across the RBS Insurance brands.
Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact your Account Manager.

Hmm, maybe they are splitting the brands onto different platforms that day?

Robert Caton, of Cusden Drive, Andover, also pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to provide a specimen.

Six women were hurt when he drove into Tesco in River Way, Andover, on 20 May.

Uninsured Drivers Cost Car Insurance Policyholders Dear!

Are you paying too much for your car insurance?

Are you fed up with the prices that you are being quoted - wherever you go?

It is more than likely that you will not be able to find cheap car insurance anywhere - because of where you live. All motor insurance rates are largely determined by the risks associated with the Postcode of the premises at which the car is kept overnight. If you live in a high risk postcode area there is little you can do to reduce your premiums short of moving!

One of the factors that affects the postcode rating table is the number of uninsured illegal drivers in your area.
The Motor Insurance Database (MID) which was founded in 2001, keeps records of all the uninsured drivers that have been caught by the Police.
The MID has recently reported that police seized over a hundred and fifty thousand cars last year which were being driven without insurance, and over forty percent of these were destined for the crusher!

So who are the bad boys who are costing us all more in insurance premiums, but particularly if you live in the following postcode sectors?

Well, the UK's worst is Bradford with proportionally more offenders than anywhere else in the UK. BD3 or Barkerend Bradford is the worst offending postcode, a poor area with high levels of asian immigration. Police have suggested that the problem is actually worse there than has been suggested but it is sometimes difficult to catch all the criminals as many drive using their relatives legal details. BD8 Whitefield and BD9 Frizinghil and Heaton are also at the top of the list.

Following close behing Bradford are certain postcodes in the West Midlands in particular B21 Handsworth, B20 Small Heath and B8 Saltley.

Be particularly careful if you have to drive in any of these postcode areas because if you are hit by an uninsured driver, chances are you may have a torrid time seeking compensation and justice!

Car Insurance blogger supports the moves for much tougher remedies including longer prison sentences for those who flout the law by driving uninsured.
Not only are these people putting us all in serious danger, they are costing this country a fortune.
An estimated 20 million pounds per year is paid into the Motor Insurers fund by the car insurance companies to cover some of the costs of claims against uninsured drivers.
This is being added to all of our car insurance premiums!

The weak British Judiciary and Magistrates need to tackle this problem head on and hand out exemplary custodial sentences for those found driving without insurance! Often the fines are less than the car insurance premiums!

A GBP 150 fine and a six month ban is really taking the piss out of the majority of us who scrimp and save to find the car insurance premiums every year!

Wake up you old fart Judges and get a sense of perspective!

New Classic Car Insurance Products

Classic Car Insurance Company Launches New Specialist Policies

The UK's leading online classic car insurance company Car-Insurance.tv has announced the launch of classic car policies designed to offer cheaper cover for women driver insurance and young drivers with age and gender related car insurance schemes.

PRLog (Press Release)- Aug 04, 2009 - Online UK classic car insurance comparison company Car-Insurance.tv ( http://www.car-insurance.tv ) has announced the launch of a range of new products and schemes specifically aimed at young drivers, lady drivers and senior drivers who own classic and collectors cars.

Marketing Director Dave Healey said, "Our online classic car insurance comparison system, is the largest in the UK and is particularly designed to make large premium savings with cheaper premiums for owners of classic and collectors cars."
"We are particularly good at finding you the best cover by your car type make and model, with our car marque insurance schemes, however many of these schemes did not offer tailored cover for women, older and young drivers."

"We recently undertook a survey and comprehensive review of our online customers which has revealed to us that we were missing out on some large segments of the market, in particular classic car insurance covers for young, old and lady drivers. The addition of the new products means we can now provide a much better Internet experience for these groups of people and we can satisfy the buying intentions of more of our customers, which include some large niche segments of the UK car insurance buying population"

Mr Healey added "Our classic car insurance schemes already offered fully comprehensive, all risks policies to young drivers over the age of twenty three. The addition of the new schemes and policies will allow us to offer classic car insurance to drivers aged twenty-one or over.
Many older cheaper cars, which are particularly favoured by this younger age group, are now eligible for classic car insurance cover."

"Our lady and women driver customers will also gain from the introduction of the new classic schemes." Mr Healey stated.
"Statistics have long shown that women drivers make fewer claims than their male counterparts. The survey showed that many of our more expensive performance and sports classic car policy holders were women."
"In order to offer these female drivers the range of covers that are available under standard cover, we have incorporated many classic car insurance schemes and policies that are designed exclusively for women drivers. They offer discounts found on standard covers and a range of benefits including agreed valuations"
"Classic car owners over fifty will also benefit from comparing schemes that offer large discounts for mature drivers with a decent driving history."

More information about all these classic car insurance products can be found on the company's Classic Car Insurance website,

Do you have 2 or more cars you need to insure? Perhaps yours and your partners?

Admiral are offering a new type of policy for owners of two or more cars which they claim could save 23% across the board, on annual car insurance premiums with a 'MultiCar' policy.

Unlike some other providers who may offer a multi car discount if you insure a second car with them, Admiral's MultiCar insurance policy actually combines the cars on a single policy, which means your discount better reflects your circumstances and gives you a bigger discount!

The multi car policy is aimed at risk addresses and can cover your address whether you are single, married or sharing a house – you can save with MultiCar as long as the cars are registered at that address.

If you are alone but own two or more cars registered at the same address then you are eligible for great discounts with Admiral MultiCar.

Many people avoid combining there sepeate car insurance risks because the renewal dates are different on each car?.
Admiral makes it easier to unite them onto a single policy, saving you time shopping around for car insurance throughout the year.

What benefits does the multi car insurance policy include?

Admiral's comprehensive MultiCar car insurance offers the following benefits as standard:

GBP100,000 legal protection
GBP5,000 personal injury cover

Transferring Cherished Number Plates and Car Insurance

Do you own a cherished or personalised number plate?

What do you do if you are buying a new car and wish to transfer it from the old one? How do apply for insurance before taking delivery of the new car if you are transferring the registration?
How can you sell or trade your car against another, or scrap the car while retaining your cherished number plate?

cherished number plate insurance

If you are trading in your car against another at a main car dealership or purchasing direct from them, the dealer will most likely be able to transfer your registration number from the old car to the new one at the time he taxes the new one and changes it into you name so you can pick up your new car with your registration number already on it. You will need to provide insurance details before picking up the new car. The car insurance is rated on many factors but number plate is not yet one of them, although it could be argued that personalised number plate holders are more inclined to look after their motors, it could equally be argued that personalised or cherished number plate holders are more likely to drive modified or unusual vehicles that present a greater risk.

Vehicle to Vehicle number plate transfer

You will need to:

* complete a V317 application to transfer or retain a vehicle registration number - if the number is being transferred to someone elses vehicle, then both registered keepers must complete the application
* enclose the GBP80 transfer fee

Also enclose for both vehicles:

* the registration certificate or logbook
* or the new keeper supplement with a completed V62 application for a vehicle registration certificate V5C
* a test certificate – needed for cars and motorcycles over three years old.

If the new keepers supplement has been stamped by a DVLA local office you will need to complete a V62 application for a vehicle registration certificate V5C before you can apply.

If either vehicle needs taxing, enclose:

* a completed V10 application for a tax disc or the V11 reminder
* a certificate of car insurance or valid cover for the vehicle
* the payment of vehicle tax

Take or send the completed application to your nearest DVLA local office.
This type of transfer has one big drawback in that you need both cars simultaneously , if you let the old car go to a new owner before the transfer is complete you have let the registration number go with it, conversely if you transfer the number to a car not yet registered in your name you have given your number away.

Conditions for retaining a cherished registration number

To retain the registration number, the vehicle must be:

* registered at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
* available for inspection
* of a type that needs an MOT
* currently taxed

However, if the vehicle is not taxed, you can still apply to retain provided:

* there is no break between the date the tax disc runs out and the start of the SORN
* and the tax disc run out no more than 12 months before the date you apply

How to apply

Take or send the following to your nearest DVLA local office:

* a completed V317 application to transfer or retain a vehicle registration number
* the registration certificate for the vehicle
* the new keeper supplement with a completed V62 application for a vehicle registration certificate V5C
* a test certificate for cars and motorcycles over three years old.
* the fee to retain - GBP105 for one year, GBP130 for two years or GBP155 for three years

The V778 lasts for 12 months and can be used to assign the number to a car registered in your name with no transfer fee to pay. If you fill in the nominee section at the time of application with your wifes, husbands or other suitable persons name , it is free at application time and means you could put the number on their car instead. Change of nominee costs GBP25 after the V778 has been issued.
