RBS Churchil Insurance - Is the nodding dog facing the guillotine?

There's been a lot of noise in the UK press recently about the split up of the profitable insurance arm of RBS Bank, partly because the Government wants some of it's money back, but more importantly because the organisation has been deemed to be in breach of European monopoly regulations regarding Insurance and needs to be broken up.

Out of the ashes of the Scottish Bank will come the predators who probably can't wait to get their grubby hands on the likes of Churchill. The Insurance News press are already speculating as to who the interested parties are.

Whoever buys Churchill is guaranteed profitable business as years of marketing expertise has engrained the lovable bulldog into the British psyche.
Why I even heard Chris Moyles of Radio 1 doing five minutes of oooh Yeeees impressions this morning! now that is invaluable advertising!
The dog is a National treasure !

Before an earthquake there are seismic rattles so perhaps what landed in our inbox today is an indication of things to come. RBS's Privilege Car Insurance has closed it's online affiliate scheme and hasn't advertised on TV for ages. We saw similar things happen to the Norwich Union brand earlier this year.

It appears the shadows are now gathering over the old bulldog's future.........
